Epsom Salt Candles – via BHG

Winter Decorating

I’ve shared Epsom Salt Candles before, but they’re worth showing again. They’re simple, charming, and a fun winter project even kids can help with. Best of all, you can leave these candle arrangements out all winter long.

I like to decorate with items I already have on hand. When you keep a few basics around, you can pull together centerpieces and little vignettes in minutes—even at the last minute—which is a lifesaver for procrastinators like me.

Some staples I often use are mason jars, Epsom salts, candles, and natural elements such as fruit (real or faux), pine cones, branches, leaves, stones, and moss. These simple components mix and match well for inexpensive, seasonal decor.

All of the ideas here are easy to create with items you likely already have.

BHG – Mason Jar Floating Candles

Floating candles in mason jars make a simple, elegant display. Fill a jar with water, add a few cranberries or sprigs of greenery, and top with a floating candle for an instant wintry centerpiece. They’re pretty on a mantle, table, or grouped on a console.

BHG – Natural Centerpiece

I love a basket arranged with natural items—pine cones, dried fruit, branches, and greenery—to create a rustic, versatile centerpiece. This kind of arrangement works from fall through spring and adapts easily to whatever seasonal accents you have on hand.

If you like wreath-based centerpieces, my quick wreath idea can be easily adapted with the same materials for any season—swap in different greens, fruit, or ornaments to refresh the look.

Hope you are enjoying the remaining days before Christmas!
