The coolness in the morning air here in the Northwest is a gentle reminder that fall is on its way. As a devoted fan of the season, that thought makes me happy, though I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to summer. I know many of you are still savoring these last warm days too.
I’m excited to begin what I call Fall Nesting.
One of my favorite things is living with the seasons and allowing my home to change gradually as autumn approaches. Shifting your decor doesn’t have to be abrupt or overwhelming. Instead of flipping the switch from summer to fall all at once, I prefer a slower, more deliberate approach.
For me, fall isn’t a race to empty every storage box and cover every surface with seasonal items. If jumping in all at once is your style, that’s wonderful. But I enjoy a more leisurely process: layering textures, adding one cozy element at a time, and giving each change space to be appreciated.
I love savoring the sensory aspects of the season—soft throws, warm lighting, a new rug underfoot, and the little comforts that help a home feel snug and inviting. With the mornings getting cooler and the simple need to pull on socks before walking around the house, I began assembling a fall playlist to help set a cozy mood.
Even if pumpkins don’t make it to my porch until October, it’s never too early to ease into the feeling of autumn. Fall Nesting is about intention and atmosphere, not a deadline.
