Does it feel like October just began? The holidays will be here before we know it, so I wanted to share a few updates from this month around the house.
I shared a fall day in my kitchen elsewhere, but I’ve included a couple of those photos here as well.

A while back I needed a new lampshade and ordered a few to test. I ended up loving a green 14-inch shade paired with an inexpensive white lamp I found at HomeGoods. It’s a simple swap that refreshed the corner.
Lately I’ve been enjoying touches of green around the house. It’s always been a favorite color, and now it pairs beautifully with our blues and neutrals. With so much green visible outside our windows, adding the color indoors feels cohesive and calming.
I also enjoy bringing the inside out. Our porch ceiling is painted a soft blue (Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue at 50%), and with green pillows and a blue rug we use outside, the view from inside to out feels unified and inviting.

Another new addition outside: we found bamboo wind chimes for my husband’s birthday and they’ve become a favorite. Their gentle sound is soothing, and when the door is open on mild days we can enjoy them indoors as well.

We have plans for our entry, but for now I hung a vintage bamboo rack I found while antique shopping this summer. It was originally intended for the powder room, but it works nicely in the entry as a handy spot for our pups’ growing bandana collection.

Dog Bandana Sets
I love when our pups wear bandanas, and keeping a few in the entry makes them easy to grab. The plaids and checks feel especially seasonal and add a cheerful pattern to the space.
To introduce more texture, I placed a vintage wicker sailboat in the window and swapped in a woven lampshade on a chinoiserie lamp. Small, removable changes like these are an easy way to refresh a room without committing long-term.
We recently finished painting the door and walls. I’m still considering wallpaper or a hand-painted mural, but I decided to postpone those projects until next year and update the paint for now. Current colors are Benjamin Moore Del Mar Blue on the interior door, Sherwin Williams Classic Light Buff on the trim, and Benjamin Moore Misty Air on the walls.
You can see a close-up video of the lamp and shade in my updates.

One perk of my work is photographing different rugs in our home. We swapped the floral rug that lived in the dining room for spring and summer with a new rug that has a lovely autumnal palette. It’s soft, durable for a dining area, and stands up to daily life with Finnegan and Lily.

On the table I made a small nest of fall leaves for a swan figurine to add seasonal charm.

We also set up a new coffee station in the kitchen in anticipation of cooler mornings and holiday gatherings. There’s now a drip coffee maker on the counter and my espresso machine lives in the coffee cabinet. I’m enjoying the flexibility of both brewers.

Thank you for the feedback on my bedroom paint indecision post. While I appreciated the moody blue inspiration, I ended up choosing a different direction and we’ve already started painting the room this week. I’m excited to share the results soon.

On a non-seasonal note, I picked up a charming book set on sale that would make a sweet gift. It looks lovely on a shelf and the books are classics to enjoy.
We’re also working on our annual gift guides to share ideas for the season.
