I love fall.
That might be a familiar opening — I admit I’ve used it many times. But I really do adore this season. It’s my favorite time at home and on The Inspired Room, especially because so many readers appreciate a cozy, welcoming space.
I know it’s only mid-August, and I’m not trying to rush summer away. I love summer too, and I’m grateful for the beautiful weather we’ve had. Here in Washington the days have been stunning, and I hope the warm, lovely weather continues well into October. Still, I can’t help but feel a little excited about the coming changes.
One small pleasure I look forward to each year is the shift in scents around the house. As the days cool, the refreshing citrus aromas of summer make way for the warm, comforting notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and other cozy fragrances. My nose and my home have already started to transition.

In the past I used to treat myself to a new fall candle in August to get inspired for the season. These days I prefer diffuser oils, and I’ve blended a scent that captures the cozy, familiar aroma of one of my favorite candles.
Sweet Vanilla Cinnamon Diffuser Blend
– A couple drops of Stress Away (vanilla with a hint of lime)
– A drop of cinnamon bark oil
– A drop of nutmeg oil
Adjust the number of drops for larger rooms or a stronger scent.
I recommend using a trusted brand of essential oils and a quality diffuser to get the best results. When diffused, this combination fills the home with a warm, sweet spice that instantly feels inviting.
I can’t wait for you to take a deep sniff and enjoy how comforting it is. The scent has already put me in a cozy mood and inspired lots of ideas for styling and layering textures around the house.
