HHello, I’m Melissa and I collect books — especially the ones I love to read and display. I’m particularly smitten with books in the kitchen. Do you enjoy that too? While cookbooks are the obvious choice, I also adore titles about vegetable and herb gardening, entertaining, and related subjects.

bookends from Lulu and Georgia
In our previous kitchen we had built-in bookshelves in the center island, and it was one of my favorite features. In this house we kept open shelves, which gives me the perfect excuse to decorate and display my pretty cookbooks.

I love wandering through bookstores, slowly scanning each aisle for covers that catch my eye. Typography, artwork, and color combinations are what draw me in.
To be honest, I’m more passionate about styling and decorating than I am about cooking. Still, a great cookbook does inspire me to cook more. My shelves are filled with cookbooks I love — they tempt me to trade decorating for experimenting in the kitchen. And I admit, curling up with a beautiful cookbook by the fire sounds pretty lovely.

Books are wonderful decorative elements; they function like small works of art when arranged thoughtfully.

These horse bookends from Lulu & Georgia are such a pretty color — they made styling the shelves even more enjoyable.

One question I get asked a lot is which books I have on my shelves and in my photos. Clearly many of you appreciate books as part of your decor too!

What cookbooks should I add to my collection?
