This Monday Mood Board is inspired by my real-life bedroom. It’s a work in progress, so I call it a collected cottage bedroom mood board. Focusing on a mood for your home is my favorite way to design—there are no hard rules, and the result is personal and meaningful to how you want your space to feel.
The pieces shown here include items I actually own and a few similar finds. Many elements were already in my home when I moved in. By pairing them with a few new accessories and textiles, the room began to take on a clear, cohesive mood. This collected approach allows you to start with what you have and add treasured finds over time.
If this cottage-inspired mood appeals to you, begin with these kinds of elements: a dark-painted dresser (or one you could paint), a white bookcase, a wood or cane bed, linen and ticking-striped bedding, layered patterns in soft blues, and natural textures like jute rugs. Whether you’re updating a room or starting from scratch, add personal touches and a few well-chosen accessories to create a warm, lived-in look.
See this mood board come to life in photos in the original post about my bedroom.
