The wedding is over and I’m finally back home. My daughter and I wanted a simple beach wedding, and in many ways it was just that. But even a “nearby destination” — only an hour and a half away — brings its own logistics. One of the biggest questions was where the wedding party would stay. Thankfully, dear friends let us use their lovely beach house in Gearhart, which gave the wedding party a comfortable place to gather for the weekend.
We were so grateful we even used their kitchen to frost 200 cupcakes the morning of the rehearsal — what a mess we made! It took a few hours to clean up, but it was worth it. While I was in Gearhart the day after the wedding, tidying frosting off cupboards, I took a few photos around the neighborhood. I knew you’d enjoy a little drive-by tour of the charming houses, so I snapped images with you in mind.
Full disclosure: I didn’t get as close to some houses as I usually would because I was sore from wearing very high-heeled red patent leather shoes during the wedding. I pulled muscles I didn’t know I had from running up and down stairs. Ouch. Still, the shoes looked cute — but they confirmed that my over-40 legs might prefer more sensible footwear next time. Maybe grandma loafers for the next dress-up event!
