This year I refreshed our Christmas mantel with a simple, coastal cottage look using florals and evergreens I already had on hand. I layered a couple of floral stems into a juniper garland, tucked in pinecones, and added the soft glow of flameless candles. The result is an easy, natural arrangement that feels festive without being fussy.

I love how the textures play together: fresh green sprigs beside delicate blooms, the rustic touch of pinecones, and the warm twinkle of candlelight. It’s welcoming for the whole season and works well with a relaxed, coastal style.
If you want to recreate the look, I list my sources and similar options below.

There was no elaborate plan or complicated technique—nothing is wired or tied down. I simply arranged everything on the mantel surface, and it has stayed put for weeks without issue.
I began by laying a juniper garland across the mantel, allowing a few sprigs to hang naturally over the edge.
Next, I tucked faux hydrangea stems (the same ones I used all fall) and a few blue silk flowers into and around the garland to add soft pops of color while hiding the floral stems beneath the greenery.
Then I scattered medium and large pinecones through the arrangement and finished with flameless votive candles on timers so they glow automatically in the evening. If you prefer, choose candles with remotes for manual on/off control.

Blue Silk Mums
Faux Dusty Green Hydrangea Stems
Juniper Garland (my garland is older; similar options are available) or individual juniper stems
Magnolia Branches (I used a few to vary the shape) or similar faux branches
A couple of piney filler branches to add texture where needed
Flameless Votive Candles with Timer for a safe, automatic evening glow
Pinecones collected outdoors supplemented by a few purchased medium and large sizes
