Coastal Beachfront House Tour: How to Recreate the Look

Hi friends! Courtney here. I recently stayed with a group of friends at a charming Victorian waterfront beach house in Washington, and I took lots of photos to share. The house felt like a modern take on “coastal grandmother” style — warm, relaxed, and full of vintage character.

The home was lovely as it was, but I couldn’t help picturing the possibilities and little changes I might make if I owned it. That’s one of my favorite parts of staying in inspiring places — noticing details that spark ideas for my own spaces.

My mom often talks about finding inspiration in unexpected places to develop your own style. Staying here reminded me to look beyond trends and observe the small, memorable details: stained glass windows, Tiffany-style chandeliers, patterned wallpaper, and graceful trim work. These features give a home personality and a sense of history.

Not every idea has to be copied exactly. You can capture the feeling of a room—like a cozy breakfast nook or a hanging porch swing—and interpret it in a way that works for your home.

At the end of this post I’ve shared mood-board style sources to help you recreate the look. This bedroom (above) was my favorite room in the house.

Enjoy the tour! I also posted a short video tour on Instagram if you prefer a quick walk-through.

When a room is this charming, a mirror selfie feels appropriate — that’s what I told myself as I snapped this. The mint/sage trim and closet doors were especially inspiring. A similar paint option might be Benjamin Moore’s Palladian Blue, though the exact shade here is unknown.

I loved the doors and the crystal doorknobs throughout the home. Those small hardware choices add an elegant, nostalgic touch.

The stained glass details throughout the house were particularly lovely. I was drawn to a small breakfast nook under a stained-glass window — a perfect spot for morning coffee. I found similar Tiffany-style fixtures and listed them with the other sources below.

One of the coziest spots in the house was a table where we gathered to play board games. It felt like a natural place to linger and share stories.

One of my goals for a future porch is to have a hanging swing — this house had a charming porch that made me want one even more. I noted some similar swing styles to consider for porches at the end of the post.

The home’s trim and arches were beautiful. Those architectural details create rhythm and depth in each room and make a house feel thoughtfully designed.

I especially loved a built-in bed nook — such a cozy, private sleeping spot. These kinds of built-ins are lovely for maximizing space and adding character.

There was a fun hot tub room off the back of the house that felt like a little private retreat — a playful, unexpected feature.

Several bathrooms retained vintage tile and wallpaper, which added to the home’s charm and sense of authenticity.

Some items I noted while touring: crystal doorknobs, a beadboard-style platform bed, cotton quilted shams in soft tones, removable vintage floral wallpaper, waffle-weave blankets, rattan and cane accents, and faux hydrangeas for fresh, low-maintenance blooms. The bedroom trim color is similar to Benjamin Moore’s Palladian Blue.

Tiffany-style chandeliers and hanging porch swings were two recurring elements that give the home its vintage-meets-coastal feel. I included several chandelier and swing options in the source lists below for different budgets and styles.
