Merry week after Christmas! I love this gentle, slow week between the holidays. The busy rush of December has passed and now it’s time to relax by the fire, enjoy a few treats and stay in pajamas a little longer. It truly feels like a little gift of rest.
This year we were treated to a rare and beautiful white Christmas here in the Northwest. Snow on the ground made everything feel extra cozy and magical as we sat by the fire and savored each flake.
Today I’m sharing photos we took around the house during the week leading up to Christmas. If you watched our Christmas video, this post complements that tour with still images and details. I’ll share a separate post with photos of our snowy Christmas — it was unforgettable.

If you’re new here, welcome! I’ve been sharing home and decor ideas at The Inspired Room for many years. These photos are from our new home — we moved in this fall and spent our first holiday season getting cozy here.
This little house has been a dream. I’ve written about our move and first impressions, and I’ll be sharing more as we settle in and begin projects. We have plans for the kitchen, dining room and even a possible addition, plus smaller updates to personalize the space for our family and my parents who will also be nearby.

For now I wanted to share how the house looked the week before Christmas. We didn’t decorate every room this year — between moving and settling in, that felt like enough — but you’ll see plenty of corners, cozy vignettes and holiday touches that made the home feel festive and welcoming.
If you enjoy following along, I’ll post updates as we make changes and share inspiration for making a home comfortable, personal and beautiful across seasons.

Now, welcome to the cozy place we call home.

One of the things we love about this house is its location. We moved to a lovely island about an hour and a half from our previous home in Seattle. The neighborhood has charming “Nantucket vibes” and beautiful water views of nearby islands. After a challenging couple of years, finding this peaceful spot to call home has felt like a true blessing.

Christmas blessings to you. If you’d like to see photos of our snowy white Christmas, I shared a post with those images as well.
If you missed our Christmas house tour video, it’s available for viewing and offers a walk-through of the holiday-decorated home.
