It’s fun to think beyond the usual vase when decorating for spring. A simple bouquet is lovely, but a spring bouquet displayed in a basket brings an extra touch of charm and texture to your home.
Start with fresh blooms—tulips are a great choice, but any spring flowers will work. Pick them up at a local market or store. If you choose cut flowers, place a drinking glass, small vase, or mason jar inside the basket to hold water and arrange the stems. I used two mason jars inside my basket; their narrow shape helps the stems stand upright and keeps the arrangement neat. If you prefer blooming bulbs or potted spring plants, line the basket with plastic before placing the pots inside to protect the basket and hold soil and moisture.

Tulips often have a mind of their own and will drape or lean in different directions—that relaxed, slightly imperfect look is part of their appeal. To help the arrangement, remove one or two lower leaves from each stem so the water stays cleaner and the flowers have room to breathe. Keep the water fresh by changing it regularly to extend the life of your cut flowers.
This is such an easy way to add a spring accent to your home. Place the basket on a kitchen counter, dining table, entry console, or nightstand—wherever you’ll enjoy it most. It also makes a thoughtful, cheerful spring gift for a friend or neighbor.
My goal has always been to share simple, attainable ideas that help you make your home feel welcoming. Small touches like a basket of spring blooms can have a big impact without a lot of fuss.

On Instagram, some friends and I celebrated “Dutch door week.” I love opening my Dutch doors in spring to let in fresh air and sunshine. I shared a live video about my kitchen remodel and Dutch doors—if you missed it, you can find the replay in the Dutch Door highlight on my Instagram profile.
