Hello, The Inspired Room readers — Cassie here! I’m so happy to be back and share what I’ve been up to. You may have noticed I’ve been quiet the last few months. We welcomed our second child over the summer, and between a newborn and his lively big sister, life has been wonderfully busy. I’m delighted to introduce our newest family member: Ashland Rion.

I’m completely smitten with this little guy.
A few months ago I shared our daughter’s new big-girl room. We moved her into a larger space so we could keep the nursery in our smallest bedroom. That meant we didn’t need to overhaul everything — just update a few decor elements and touch up where needed.
We kept the crib, dresser, rocker, and the rug that had been in Evie’s room. I’d hoped to repaint the crib and dresser, but painting furniture while pregnant and during one of Seattle’s hottest summers was not the right timing. So they stayed white, and that was perfectly fine.

My husband cares a lot about how our home looks, so I wanted to include his input for Ash’s nursery. While I was leaning toward a woodland or vintage feel, he requested robots.

Robots proved surprisingly tricky to decorate around — much of what I found felt too cutesy or oddly creepy. I settled on a blend of outer space and robots, a subtle, modern approach that feels playful without being over the top.

There are still a few projects on my list, like painting the crib, but having a cozy, mostly finished nursery has made those late-night feedings and quiet cuddle moments with Ashland even more special.
Until next time!
