Life Lately: My Recent Moments on Instagram

It’s been a while since I shared a “Life Lately” post from Instagram. I love pulling together little glimpses of our everyday life and sharing behind-the-scenes moments from our family feeds here on the blog.

First, a big thank you and Happy Mother’s Day to my wonderful mom. And a heartfelt thank you to my kids — you make your mama proud every single day.

This tiny coffee station at my girls’ townhouse is so cute, don’t you think?

Last week my girls and I enjoyed smoothie bowls during a breakfast meeting — essentially a thick fruit-and-yogurt smoothie served in a bowl and topped with fresh fruit and granola. It’s delicious and feels nourishing.

On Sunday our whole clan — humans and fur kids — took an afternoon drive to Snoqualmie Falls. It’s only about 45 minutes from our house and a lovely escape for locals.

The weather was beautiful, so we spent time outside soaking in the view. It was a simple, refreshing afternoon together.

If you watched Twin Peaks, this setting might look familiar — the Salish Lodge above the falls is incredibly picturesque.

After a long winter indoors, it felt so good to be outside. The dogs had an absolute blast exploring.

We had all four dogs with us and someone joked we looked like a circus — which was pretty accurate and made us laugh.

Walking four furry doodles together is quite a scene.

Jack, though, is a true homebody. Lily loves being outdoors, while Jack seems happiest inside, close to his people.

Speaking of Jack, he turned six on Friday! It feels like yesterday we brought him home from the farm.

Lately my daughters and I have been making essential oil rollers. We use them for lots of things — our “happy” blend has become a daily scent I reach for like perfume. We appreciate avoiding artificial fragrances and unnecessary chemicals in our home. If you’d like details about the blends we use, I’m happy to share.

This weekend I got swept into a redesign frenzy and sketched fresh ideas for nearly every room in the house — except the kitchen, which I’m leaving alone for now. Expect to see some updates in the coming weeks as the rooms evolve.

I always plan to update the seasonal chalkboard art, but clearly this one still has fall leaves on it. Old habits die hard!

With the kitchen finished, I’m excited to focus on smaller projects like refreshing the guest room. I enjoy seeing how rooms evolve with just a few thoughtful changes.

Design often feels like dominoes: one small change nudges another, and before you know it the whole room has a new look.

Office floors
I haven’t forgotten to share the new floors in my office — I hope to have that post up this week.

Someday I’d love a little garden shed like this in our backyard. I’m not a fan of shopping malls, but plant nurseries are my happy place.

It’s a real wild rumpus whenever the pups get together each week.

That little surprise out of the corner of my eye gave me quite a start — classic Jack. You can follow his antics on social channels if you’d like.

If you visit Seattle, my daughter Kylee uses the hashtag #KyleeinSeattle to highlight favorite places to eat, drink coffee, and explore around our beautiful city.

Hope you all have a great Sunday!
