Welcome to my Fifth Annual Fall Nesting series!
{Fall Front Porch Decorating}
I’m so glad you’re here.
It’s hard to believe this is my fifth annual series, but if I’m going to celebrate something for five years running it might as well be Fall Nesting — two passions that always inspire me and get my creativity flowing.
Over the past year I’ve been focused on reorganizing and redecorating nearly every corner of our home. Big projects and small details alike have kept me in what I like to call intense nesting mode. I’ve probably earned a subtitle: 365 Days of Intense Nesting, because one month of fall just wasn’t enough. Go big or go home, right?
Honestly, this season of nesting has been both fun and unexpectedly therapeutic.

The changes have affected more than just how my house looks. As I move through our rooms each day, I feel a growing sense of peace and order. That feeling matters even more than pretty curtains or a fresh coat of paint — it’s about creating a home that actually works for our life and restores us.
I love a home that feels calm and inspiring at the same time, a place that rejuvenates and supports the life we live.
The last few years were packed with intense schedules and responsibilities: starting a church and building a business took more energy than I expected. I needed to step back and focus on our home for a while, so I turned down travel, speaking engagements, and other opportunities to create space for this work.
I planned to share more about those busy seasons here, but my daughter Courtney, who studied interior design, wrote a post that said it all beautifully, so I’ll let her words stand in for my thoughts on the importance of home.

Right now we feel blessed and at peace. After intense years filled with moving, service, and nonstop work, it’s wonderful to be in a season where we can focus on making our home more comfortable and functional in preparation for the year ahead.
I’ll be sharing more of what I’ve been working on throughout the month. With a year of nesting plus my usual fall enthusiasm, there’s plenty to show and discuss — and I can’t wait to share it with you.

The goal of my Fall Nesting series is to inspire seasonal decorating ideas while also encouraging ways to savor this time of year and find contentment in the home and season you’re in. We may be in autumn in the U.S., but each of us is in a unique season of life.
If you’ve followed along for years, you know we’ve weathered many seasons: a year without steady work, growing a business, a difficult house sale, moving to a new state, health emergencies, launching a church, adopting a rambunctious puppy named Jack, and now this period of intense nesting.
Different seasons call for different types of nesting and different ways to cultivate contentment at home.
Homes and circumstances aren’t always perfect, but our attitude and intentional choices about creating a comfortable, functional home — whatever season we’re in — can sustain and inspire us.

Whether we’re sharing a list of 20 little things we love about fall (I hope you’ll write your own and join the link-up), crafting a simple fall centerpiece or wreath, or establishing routines that make daily life smoother, the Fall Nesting series is about finding joy and contentment where you are.
This series will explore fall nesting ideas for entries, kitchens and pantries, family rooms, dining spaces, bedrooms, and more — we’ll touch on almost every room in the house. Expect quick seasonal ideas, a few giveaways, updates on my house projects, and yes, a few fun things from Jack too. There’s a lot of fall and nesting happening here this month!
I hope you’ll share your seasonal stories and ideas in the comments so we can connect during this series. Fall Nesting is more enjoyable when we share it with others — feel free to link up if you’re doing a fall home series so we can find and support one another.
