A Adirondack chairs and summer just belong together. I have one in my yard (we had another once, but the wood rotted after years of Seattle winters). I’ve always imagined a pair on a front porch or arranged around a fire pit, the kind of simple scene that invites long evenings and slow conversation.
Our current porch is too small for a seating area and we don’t have a fire pit here, but I still like to imagine possibilities. Recently I picked up two Adirondack chairs to bring that relaxed look into my yard. For now they’ll sit beside the backyard shed, giving a touch of summer charm even without a large patio or a circle of chairs around a fire.
Someday I’d love to build a proper fire pit area like the one we had at our old house. I’m planning a future backyard refresh that may include a flagstone patio around the shed and a pea-gravel path from the deck to the shed, lined with planter boxes and, naturally, Adirondack chairs clustered near the fire pit.
DREAM MUCH? Yes — but planning and small steps are how big ideas start.
For now, two chairs by the shed are enough to satisfy that summer feeling.
Here are some inspirational photos featuring Adirondack chairs to help you dream along.
