Fourth of July Home Decorating Ideas for a Festive Celebration

I was just uploading some phone photos from the Fourth of July and thought I’d share them here to keep the memories. It was a simple, happy day and these little moments felt worth saving.

This candid shot of Jack on the Dutch door is one of my favorites. He used to hesitate about jumping up there, but now he climbs on by himself without a second thought.

I’d just trimmed the climbing roses — they were absolutely full of blooms a couple of weeks ago. I cut them back to encourage another flush of flowers. They’ve climbed the fence beautifully; I’m thinking about adding another trellis next year, and maybe doing the same for the star jasmine on the other side.

This spot is always my favorite in the mornings. You can see the water from here, but it stays pleasantly shaded. Do you notice the wild vine on my porch? I didn’t recognize it at first — it sprang up in a random spot, so I potted it. It turned out to be honeysuckle and quickly outgrew the little trellis I had for it.

Jack loves his bandana — it’s such a little personality touch that always makes me smile.

Our hydrangeas have been blooming all over the yard — mostly blue with one white bush. It’s been so fun cutting them and arranging small bouquets for the house. Naturally, I placed a few in the sink for a quick photo shoot — blogger habit, I guess!

We still love our Trex deck — Lily does, too. It’s been a wonderful addition and has encouraged us to spend more time outside, especially now that we’re home more than usual.

Speaking of being home, stay tuned next week — I’ll be sharing thoughts about our interior floor plan and a few ideas I’ve been considering.
