Can you believe the holiday season is already upon us? I’m not quite ready — my house certainly isn’t — but there’s still time to prepare. To get into the spirit of giving, I’m sharing a giveaway below.
Are you hosting Thanksgiving this year (my U.S. readers) or did you host it already (my Canadian readers)? I’m hosting this year and I’m excited to plan the menu. I’ve recently adopted a gluten-free diet after being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s; I’m feeling great and will share more about that journey soon.

In addition to gluten-free options, my daughter Kylee and her husband Lance have been vegan for years, and several family members are often vegetarian or dairy-free. This year’s meal will likely be the most unique — and hopefully the most delicious — we’ve had. I’ve been collecting recipes on my gluten-free dairy-free Pinterest board and welcome your suggestions.
We like to keep food simple and approachable, offering fresh twists on traditional dishes without making meal prep stressful. The focus is always on gathering and enjoying time together.
Embracing simplicity in how we celebrate the holidays and care for our home has made all the difference for me as a hostess.

Since my kids were little, I’ve loved hosting Thanksgiving and bringing family together in our home. Our nearly-antique dining table doesn’t fit everyone, so we extend the surface with a card table in the living room, cover it with a tablecloth, and make one big, happy table. It’s not fancy, but it centers on what matters most: memories, good food, and the people we love.
Isn’t that the goal of creating a home? To open the door and invite people into a warm, welcoming space without apologies or pressure to impress. For me, hosting is about caring for people and creating an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable.
If hosting feels joyful to you or if it makes you nervous, my book Simple Gatherings offers encouragement, tips, and ideas to inspire hosting with creativity and ease throughout the year.
