It’s Pick Your Prize Weekend here at The Inspired Room! The past few weeks have been challenging, and I’m finally finding my footing again. As many of you know, my daughter needed emergency surgery last week. She’s doing much better now, and I’m deeply grateful for your kind comments, messages, and concern.
The day of the appendectomy felt surreal. I followed the ambulance to the hospital, then watched her being wheeled inside. They gave her medication to prepare for surgery and I walked out to the waiting room feeling afraid, worried, and alone while my husband stayed home with our son and dogs. Anyone who saw me pacing in the hallway would have understood that haze of emotion.
As I wandered the waiting area, my eyes caught the gift shop display. I did a double take. My friend Dee’s artwork from Red Letter Words — the Urban Soul pieces that DaySpring carries — was right there in the window. Seeing those simple words felt like a small, perfect message intended just for me. In that instant I felt less alone and a wave of reassurance that everything would be okay.
This wasn’t just pretty artwork; it carried meaning and hope. Little reminders like that make a real difference. Surrounding yourself with encouraging words and intentional decor helps you focus on blessings and what matters most.
