To welcome the quickly approaching summer, we gave our front door and porch a fresh update. This is a great season to boost curb appeal so the house will be ready for fall decorating and the holidays.
You may have seen the new door color on my Instagram stories, but here’s a progress photo. We’re not finished painting the door and the trim still needs attention. There are plenty of small updates we plan to make to the porch.
The door paint is “Blue Suede Shoes” by Benjamin Moore, and our brick house is painted “Reserved White” by Sherwin Williams. I kept this progress photo mostly unedited so you can see the true shade. It shifts a bit during the day—up close it’s bright and cheerful, and from the street it’s a bit more subdued but still lovely. It’s a fun, happy color. While the porch isn’t perfect yet, I like sharing small improvements rather than only waiting for a finished reveal. I’ll share a full before-and-after on the door in the coming weeks. For now, I’m celebrating progress.
Do you ever feel you must do a project all at once? If I let that “all or nothing” mindset stop me, I’d never move forward. Painting the door is just one step toward better curb appeal, but we already love the color and the mood it creates for the front of our home. It’s sparking ideas I’m excited to explore and share as we continue making changes.
Now that the door is such a cheerful focal point, I’m hunting for a fun summer doormat and accessories to complete the porch. I’ll post more porch ideas and my favorite accessories soon. Below are some pretty summer doormats I found to inspire you.
