Last week I took a day off and even turned down a conference call with HGTV designer David Bromstad so I could spend uninterrupted time with my son. I shut down the computer, turned off my phone, and we enjoyed a full day together without screens.

Finding space for a true summer break can be difficult for our family because my husband and I both work from home and are in an especially busy season of life. To make a day feel like a real day off, we have to be intentional about stepping away from our devices and routines.

This summer we’ve planned several more of those deliberate, relaxed, computer-free days—simple, fun moments that let us reconnect and recharge as a family.
