At last — a progress update on our new office and the finished flooring. Adding a wall and a door has made the space so much quieter, and the new Mohawk Concertina laminate in Smokey Chestnut has completely refreshed the look. The room now feels calmer, more organized and much more inviting.

If you missed the original before photos and the backstory for this space, you can find that post on our site.
We kept our existing furniture while we continue to refine the layout, but the flooring alone has transformed the entire lower level. This office now inspires us — it feels cozier and more functional, and working here is simply more enjoyable. The warm tones and matte finish of the laminate add a welcoming, lived-in charm that suits our home very well.

I love the matte finish and the warm, rustic hues — the flooring looks even better in person and complements our furniture and decor.

The flooring is not only attractive but built to handle everyday family life. We have a busy household, so durability was essential. The laminate can withstand high traffic and various uses, and its color and texture do a great job of hiding everyday dirt and scuffs. That versatility means this room can adapt over time — today it’s an office, tomorrow it could become a mudroom or guest bedroom — and the floors will still fit the purpose.

If you’d like more detail about how we chose this flooring and how the installation went, we previously shared a full post about the process and another reveal showing the finished look in our adjoining family room.

We look forward to sharing more ideas for arranging the office and the connecting rooms as the project evolves. Thanks for following along!
