Wait — didn’t I say I was becoming an empty nester a year and a half ago? Well, surprise: everyone moved back home at one time or another over the past year. Aside from a few short stretches, life has been more chaotic than quiet. And honestly, I’m grateful for it. Family—both human and furry—is important to me.
My son returned from his dorm when classes shifted online last spring and decided to stay since his college is nearby. Courtney lived in our basement apartment last year and recently moved into a lovely nearby apartment of her own. And our fur grandbaby Bella spent her first few months with us while her parents were between homes. Now Bella, her brother Leo, and their parents—my daughter Kylee and her husband Lance—are staying with us temporarily while they search for a new house.
They sold their townhouse in Seattle and are in the exciting (and sometimes stressful) process of buying their first home. We’re thrilled for this next chapter for them and happy to offer a safe, comfortable place while they house hunt. I’m keeping my fingers crossed they find a home close by.

I’ll share a tour of the basement and lower-level spaces where they’re staying soon. Update: we’ve posted our basement tour. We love having them here and can’t wait to see where they settle.
I post live video of our daily moments—the fun, the chaos, and everyday life—on Instagram and Facebook stories. I also share home tips, ideas, and encouragement there. If you follow along on social media, I’d love to hear from you.

For posts about Kylee’s Seattle townhouse, see the category dedicated to her home updates.
Update: our basement tour is available for you to view.
