Coastal Cottage Christmas Mantel with Florals and Greenery

Florals + Greenery for Our Coastal Cottage Christmas Mantel

I’m excited to share our Christmas mantel this year. I chose a simple, coastal-inspired approach using florals and evergreens I already had on hand. By layering a couple of faux flower stems with a juniper garland, scattering pinecones, and adding the soft glow of flameless candles, the mantel feels seasonal and welcoming without feeling overdone.

What I love about this arrangement is how the textures play together: lush green garland next to delicate blooms, the natural texture of pinecones, and the warm flicker of candles. It creates a cozy, festive look that’s easy to maintain throughout the season.

If you’d like to recreate this look, I’ve listed the items and similar options used throughout the post.

There wasn’t any complicated technique involved—nothing wired or tied down. Everything is simply laid on the mantel, and it’s held up well for weeks without shifting.

I began by placing a single juniper garland across the mantel, allowing a few branches to drape over the edge for a relaxed look.

Next I tucked in faux hydrangea stems (the same ones I used in a vase through the fall) and a few blue silk mums to add soft color variations. The garland helps conceal the floral stems and gives the composition a natural, cohesive base.

I distributed medium and large pinecones among the greenery, then finished with flameless votive candles set on a timer so they glow automatically in the evening. Battery-operated candles with a remote are another convenient option if you prefer manual control.

Juniper Garland (I used an older style) — there are many similar garlands and juniper stems available if you want extras to layer.

Magnolia branches are a lovely complement if you want more structure and texture.

I also added a few pine branch picks to fill in sparse spots.

Flameless votive candles with a timer make evening ambiance effortless.

I used pinecones gathered from outside, but you can find medium and large sizes online if needed.
