II’ve been searching for a charming freestanding bench, sofa, or banquette to fit beneath the window beside my dining table. Ideally I’d find the perfect piece that could be delivered right away. Once I get an idea stuck in my head, I admit I get impatient!
The truth is that a custom solution might be necessary to get the exact fit under the window and at the table, but I’m hopeful I’ll find a ready-made option that works. In the past, sofas and settees used with dining tables often have seats that are too low or backs that are too sloped to sit flush against a wall. It can be surprisingly hard to find just the right piece.
Below are several appealing options I discovered online. They may not all suit my needs, but they could be perfect for someone else. Many of these models are offered in multiple colors and sizes, which is convenient. Note that items #4 and #5 include storage beneath the bench, which is a nice bonus.
UPDATE 2021: I purchased a banquette bench and love it. You can see it in my dining room in the photos I shared.
