Boy and His Room: Nursery Tour and Decorating Guide

A Boy and His Room - An Introduction and Nursery Tour

Hello Inspired Room readers — Cassie here. I’m excited to be back after a short break. Over the summer we welcomed our second little one, and life has been happily full with a spirited big sister and our newborn, Ashland Rion.

I’ve been completely smitten with this tiny new member of our family.

A few months ago I shared our daughter’s new “big girl” room. We moved her into a larger space so we could keep the nursery in our smallest bedroom. That made the transition simple — mostly decor changes and a few small touch-ups rather than a full overhaul.

We kept the crib, dresser, rocker, and the rug that were in the room when it belonged to Evie. I considered painting the crib and dresser, but between pregnancy and one of Seattle’s hottest summers, tackling furniture paint felt like more than I could take on. So the furniture stayed white and it works well with the rest of the room.

My husband cares about how our home looks, so I wanted his input for Ash’s nursery. I had pictured something woodland, vintage, or rustic, but he requested robots.

Robots proved trickier to style than I expected — many options were either too cutesy or oddly creepy. I landed on a blend of outer space and robots to keep the room modern and playful without leaning into overly juvenile or kitschy elements.

There are a few projects still on my list — painting the crib being one of them — but for now the nursery feels special and mostly finished. It’s a calm, cozy place for late-night feedings, cuddles, and quiet time with our little boy.

Thanks for stopping by the nursery tour. Until next time!
