Girls’ Day Out in NYC — Photo Tips + Camera Bag Giveaway

Im a blogger and a mom, and both roles mean I’m often carrying a camera and taking pictures. For about a year I’ve used a Canon Rebel, and for far too long I stuffed it into a tote bag when traveling to conferences, events and school performances.

The reason was simple: I found most camera bags unattractive. I didn’t want to walk around with an obvious camera case in addition to my purse and tote, feeling awkward or like an overburdened tourist. I’m not obsessed with fashion, but I do care about looking put together.

When I was planning a week in New York City, I needed a smarter way to carry everything. In a big city you don’t pop back to the hotel every time you need something; you have to plan for the whole day. I wanted a bag that was practical, protective and stylish enough to carry from morning until night.

Before leaving Seattle I found the solution: a Clover Epiphanie Bag in teal. It was roomy enough for everything I needed—umbrella, wallet, gum and lip gloss, sunglasses and phone—while still offering padded compartments for my camera and lens. It kept camera gear separated and protected, and it stored daily essentials without turning into a bottomless black pit where small items disappear.

The Clover isn’t a tiny bag, but its internal organization makes it feel efficient. Everything had its place, so I could find items quickly. The padding added protection my old tote could never provide, so I felt confident carrying gear while walking around the city or stashing it under the airplane seat. It functioned perfectly as my only carry-on: no extra purse needed.

I might get a smaller camera bag in the future for lighter days, but I truly enjoyed using the Clover for sightseeing and errands. It balanced style and function, and proved that protecting camera equipment doesn’t mean sacrificing appearance.

And when I finally get an iPad, it will fit into this bag too—one less thing to worry about.

Girls’ Day Out in NYC

One memorable day on the trip was a “girls’ day out” with Kate from Centsational Girl. We spent the day exploring and discovering wonderful shops and sights around the city, including an incredible fabric store. I shared some snapshots on Instagram and Facebook, and Kate’s own post captures more of the day and the places we visited.

I liked this camera bag enough that I arranged a giveaway so one reader could win an Epiphanie Bag of their choice. Readers were invited to leave a comment naming which bag they’d choose and a random winner was selected. It was an easy way to share something I genuinely enjoyed using.

Epiphanie did not sponsor this blog and I was not paid for the post; I did receive a bag at no charge and, as always, my opinions are my own.

Epiphanie Bags are visible on social media and were the brand I highlighted when I talked about practical, stylish camera-carrying options.
