Ladies, I’m happy to report that the problematic pinkish color has finally been removed from another room in our house. Our laundry room had been largely overlooked in terms of design since we bought this home. It wasn’t terrible—just dated and a little embarrassing. It worked and was very functional, but it needed a refresh.
For this update we focused on a few simple improvements: replacing the fluorescent light, updating the tired laundry sink (you’ll see that at the end), and repainting the walls. The room is small and doesn’t require a major renovation to feel much better. A fresh coat of paint and a few new touches would make a big difference.
My husband sanded and painted the cabinets last week, and they now wear a clean coat of white (Dove White, Benjamin Moore formula mixed in Glidden). Because the room is compact, a simple white palette gives it a brighter, more open backdrop. We’ll likely change the cabinet hardware at some point, but for now the original handles are fine and help us save a bit of money.
Our new light has arrived and is ready to be installed. We chose the Wallaby Flush Mount from Barn Light Electric in a lively emerald green to add a pop of color and character to the small white room. The photo above was edited to preview color options, so the final hue may vary slightly. We’re excited to get it hung and see that green accent on the ceiling. With a large window bringing in natural light, the room will be bright without the fluorescent fixture.
I’m especially enthusiastic about the new light because it adds charm and personality while keeping the overall look clean and simple.

For those who haven’t seen the earlier photos, here’s how the laundry room looked for years—functional but in need of an update (minus the piles of laundry).

Inspiring, right?

The laundry room is on the second floor, down the hall from the bedrooms, which is a location I love. Having the laundry on the same level as the bedrooms makes it much easier to stay on top of, especially after years of hauling laundry up and down from a basement.

Now, here’s the sink reveal. Charming, isn’t it? This sink is a clear sign of all the painting projects we’ve tackled since moving in. We could have cleaned up the paint drips while they were fresh, but that didn’t happen. Since these sinks are inexpensive and basic, we’re replacing this one with a clean, functional model next week rather than spending excessive time trying to restore the current one.
On the opposite wall we’ll hang the ironing board next to a small white glass cabinet where we keep cleaning supplies. This is a modest makeover, but the changes already make the space more pleasant and practical to use.
So what remains of that pinkish color? A few closets and our master bathroom still wear the old paint. The closets can stay for now, but the master bath is next on the repaint list. I won’t miss the pink at all.
I’ll post another update once the new sink and light are installed.
