Cozy Fall Entryway Refresh for Small Spaces

This post is in partnership with Wayfair

Can you believe September is only two weeks away? I always look forward to fall nesting. Even though I still miss our sweet Jack, as I’ve written in A Lovely Life and Dwelling, bringing beauty into the home can be deeply healing.

This week I decided to follow my own advice and create a cozy, welcoming entry. My husband plans to repaint the door and porch next week, but I wanted to add a few simple touches inside to hint at the season. I found everything I needed at Wayfair.

Small or awkward entryways can be tricky to furnish—items need to be the right scale, attractive, and practical for everyday family life. Wayfair has a great selection of smaller-scale cottage-style pieces that made pulling this look together much easier.

Rug

The colors in this rug felt like the perfect cozy layer and it was available in a smaller size (3’6″ x 5’6″). Its palette ties the space together and sets the tone for the entry—warm, inviting, and softly cottage-inspired.

A half round table brings both style and function to a narrow entry. I wanted something similar to our old table but with a lower shelf and a deeper drawer, and this demilune is exactly that—the color feels soft and cottagey and the proportions work beautifully in a tight space.

I chose a tall, narrow lamp with a scalloped shade that adds charm without taking up too much surface area. Because the table top is rounded and small, I needed storage that would tuck neatly underneath. Woven rattan boxes fit perfectly and keep the space tidy while adding texture.

Wreath

A simple fall wreath completes the look, offering a warm, welcoming touch at the door. The colors play nicely with the rug and furnishings, creating a cohesive entry that feels seasonal without being overdone.

Now when we enter this room it feels like a warm, gentle hug—a cozy reminder of the love and beauty that make our home a sanctuary. I have a few more ideas to refine the space, but this is a lovely start.

Thank you for your kind comments on my last post about Jack. I read each message and carry your words with me—your support means so much to our family.
