Pottery Barn
Greetings. I’m finally recovering after a long bout with the flu. I don’t think I’ve ever been sick so many days in a row — it was awful and left me drained of energy and motivation. Thankfully I’m feeling better now and ready to get back to blogging. I’m officially back and excited to share what’s next.
In a slightly embarrassing confession: I still had most of my Christmas decor up. Yes, mid-January. I simply didn’t have the energy to take it down while I was unwell. Now that I’m on the mend, the decorations are coming down and I’m getting back into the swing of things.

With some renewed energy I’ve also been thinking about my home goals for the year. Recently I mentioned working on a craft closet in our guest room, and that led me to consider organizing and decluttering the rest of the house. Aside from our pantry, I’m not completely satisfied with the way most closets and dressers are functioning. A few areas work well — like my new pegboard tool area — but many spots need an overhaul.

Pottery Barn Organization
My aim for the year is to create more efficient and attractive storage in every room. I want to maximize the space we have. Although our home is a comfortable size overall, each room tends to be on the small side and built-in storage is limited. We have only one small closet on the main floor and bedroom closets aren’t being used to their full potential. They could all use practical updates and a bit of style to make them more appealing. My dream is to have closets that are both useful and photogenic.
I’m influenced by how rooms and storage systems look and function. When I tackle a room from top to bottom and make it look pretty and purposeful, I’m more inspired to keep it tidy. An organized space with a place for everything makes me feel calmer and more motivated. In short, an organized home feels like a more peaceful home.
My plan is to go room by room, assessing how each space functions and identifying opportunities to improve storage. In some rooms I’ll add new pieces — dressers, shelving units, or consoles — and in others I’ll creatively makeover existing storage to make it both prettier and more efficient. I’m picturing new wall organizers, more hooks, and smart solutions that make small spaces work harder.

Organized Craft Space
Some rooms will require creativity, especially those that currently lack storage, like our dining room. Built-ins would be ideal in certain areas but may not fit the budget right now. In many cases I’ll empty closets and start fresh with better systems that are tailored to our needs. My overall goal is to not only beautify each room but also reduce excess and end the year more organized than I began. I don’t expect every corner to be perfect, but I know steady progress will make a noticeable difference.
I hope you’ll follow along as I work through this project. Maybe my progress will inspire you to tackle a closet or a room in your own home. Sharing this goal publicly makes me accountable, and that’s motivating — in a good way. I’m ready to get started and look forward to the improvements ahead.
But first, I need to finish putting those Christmas decorations away.
