Now that we’re wrapping up the outdoor projects we started, we’re thrilled with the progress. Our main goal with these improvements was to make the property safer and more comfortable for our family and our dogs.
Design updates are inspiring, but safety comes first. Since moving in we’ve added new concrete, lighting, steps, railings and a variety of safety features around the yard. We’ve also installed security measures to help protect our family and make our home feel secure.

I also enjoy integrating smart technology for convenience and for the added layer of security it provides.
We installed the HomeHawk™ by Panasonic KX-HN7000 series HD camera system, and today I’ll share how we use it and why it’s given us peace of mind. (I’m also hosting a giveaway—look for details in the comments.)
The HomeHawk kit we use includes one front door HD camera, one peripheral HD camera and a wireless access point base to protect both indoor and outdoor areas. It’s easy to install, reliable and packed with useful features.
Don’t worry, mom, I won’t reveal any security secrets.

Our neighbor put many cameras around her home when she built next door, and I always thought that was smart thinking—if anyone approaches our property they’ll be seen. Inspired by that, we set up cameras not just to deter burglars but also to keep tabs on everyday activity around our house.
When we’re watching a movie and I wonder if Lily is still outside, I can check the yard on my Echo Show instantly. The cameras have two-way audio, so I can even tell Jack to quiet down if he’s barking at a neighbor’s dog (once I confirm there’s no threat).

If someone approaches the front door I don’t have to go check—my camera lets me see who’s there without being visible. I can know if a visitor is present even if they don’t ring the bell.
Checking for packages from my phone is one of my favorite conveniences. The system can even play a notification that the property is monitored, which may discourage package theft.
I can watch the front porch while cooking dinner using the Alexa Echo on the counter; it’s reassuring to glance at the camera feed and know what’s happening. My kids can also view feeds on their devices, which helps them feel secure too.

Our home feels much smarter now.
The Panasonic HomeHawk system is straightforward to install—even for non-DIYers. It’s fully wireless and relies on a long-life rechargeable battery, so placement is flexible.
The system is scalable: you can add up to 14 additional cameras (16 total) to cover more areas. It integrates with smartphones and works with Google Home and Amazon Alexa for convenient access.
HomeHawk records full-color video both day and night through a wide-angle lens. The app offers many settings so you can tailor notifications and detection zones. You can also exclude areas from monitoring, such as a public street or a swaying tree that might trigger motion alerts.

You can record camera activity to review later, which is useful if you want to see past events. It’s also helpful for monitoring older kids or checking on deliveries—no sneaking around goes unnoticed.
