Hospitality and Joy Aren’t Canceled — Front Porch Decorating Ideas

I was reading a thread on our neighborhood app about whether people planned to decorate their front porches this fall. Some neighbors admitted they weren’t feeling it this year and didn’t think it was worth the effort. I understand that — when life feels heavy or chaotic it’s tempting to retreat indoors and leave the porch light off.

What moved me was how many neighbors chimed in with a wholehearted yes. They intended to decorate their porches and make them festive — not just for themselves, but for the kids and to bring a little joy to the whole community.

I love that outlook.

Keeping the porch light on and a welcome mat at the door can be a small but meaningful reminder that hospitality and neighbors still matter.

Adding creative touches to our porches can also show our families and neighborhood that joy isn’t canceled.

I’m excited to style the lantern by my front door for fall. (You can see how I styled my spring lantern on my blog.)
