4 Winter Bedroom Mood Boards: Stylish Designs to Inspire You

Today I’m sharing four mood board ideas for a small bedroom refresh I’ll be working on this winter, featuring pieces I found at Walmart. It’s wonderful to discover items that are affordable, accessible, and stylish. Thank you Walmart for sponsoring this post.

As homebodies, having small projects to look forward to during the colder months can be surprisingly therapeutic. In my last post I showed my favorite feature in our new bedroom and introduced this new project I’m excited to tackle.

I’m planning a few simple updates to our bedroom to help pull the space together, make it feel like ours, and create a cozy spot to enjoy through winter.

Below are four mood board options we created for the room. I aimed for palettes and pieces that feel warm and inviting for winter but are simple to swap out for spring. All items shown were found at Walmart, so they’re easy to source and budget-friendly.

Walmart makes seasonal decorating straightforward and fun. I appreciate being able to shop online for stylish finds, and timely shipping has been a real bonus. If you need something immediately, popping into a store is convenient too.

Take a look at the four mood boards below—do any stand out to you? Would you mix and match elements from different looks? You can find me on Instagram stories—I’d love to hear which pieces you like best. Sources for each mood board are listed below.

Did you pick a favorite? What elements spoke to you?

I call these “mood boards” because they’re about more than style—they’re about the feeling of a room. A well-curated mood board helps me visualize how accessories, textures, and colors will come together and how the space will feel to live in. That feeling often guides practical choices that lift my mood through every season.

I enjoy experimenting with different colors, patterns, and accessories, and sometimes mixing styles to see what resonates. A room’s mood is influenced by its architectural features and by what’s happening in life at the time, so assembling these elements is part practical and part emotional.

If you want a new mood in your room, try shopping your own home to swap items between rooms, add a few seasonal accessories, rearrange art or furniture, or test a fresh paint color. For this bedroom I’ll be combining new finds with pieces we already own to create a collected, layered look built over time.

Mood boards can be made physically with poster board or bulletin boards, or digitally through tools like Pinterest or simple photo collages. Use whatever method inspires you—creating a mood board can be a fun winter activity that helps clarify your vision.

I’ll share more photos of the finished room and the updates after Christmas.

I hope you enjoyed these mood boards as much as we enjoyed making them. Tell me which look is your favorite or how you might mix elements—creating a mood board is all about finding what inspires you.
