I’m excited about the season, yet I’m hoping our kitchen will be finished before Thanksgiving and dreading the idea of Christmas decorating around a boxed sink sitting on the dining room floor.
That’s often how it goes. Most of us don’t have a picture-perfect home or ideal circumstances for a flawless holiday. Even when life feels good, expectations for what the season should look like can pull our attention away from what we truly want it to be.
I was surprised when my Instagram feed started filling with fully decorated Christmas homes as early as November 1. That feels early—even for me. In the past I’ve defended having a tree up by Thanksgiving, but this year it all felt a little fast.
Whether you’re ready to baste the turkey and deck the halls, or wondering how you’ll pull things together in time to celebrate or host, I have a new series for this year.
This series is meant to bring more joy to the season for everyone, regardless of the size or state of your home. I’ll offer simple, practical ways to transform your space, your heart, and your holidays. It’s not only about decorating and gift giving—although there will be plenty of ideas for those—but about finding ways to savor the season at home, exactly where you are.
