A few days ago I found a quiet moment before family arrived. I had already taken down my winter door decor but never replaced it, so the entry looked neglected—no crunchy evergreen boughs or leftover wreaths, thankfully, but still lacking any sign of the new season.
Now that it’s officially spring and I haven’t planted my porch pots yet, the front door felt a bit abandoned. Empty planters and odds and ends made the space look like it wasn’t quite ready for visitors or to celebrate spring. There was no evidence that anyone lived here or that we were welcoming guests.

It felt like we were stuck between seasons, or like we hadn’t quite returned from a long winter. I wanted a quick, pretty fix that would make the porch feel fresh and inviting for spring, but it was rainy and I wasn’t eager to be outside.
Then I remembered a scalloped basket I’d been saving and a stash of faux spring branches in the garage. A few minutes of arranging and the front door transformed—instant spring without the mess or the need to rush outside.

I simply arranged the faux branches in the scalloped basket and hung it on the door. It’s an easy, low-effort way to welcome the season and make the entry feel cared for. The rest of the porch can wait for sunnier days and planted pots.

The basket is large and makes a bold statement on the door. Yes, it’s possible someone might brush a branch as they enter, but it’s easy to avoid and hangs high enough to be noticed. If you have a smaller doorway or prefer a subtler look, choose a smaller basket or fewer stems.
I hung the basket on a simple nail, so it’s easy to remove or relocate when needed. The combination of the substantial scalloped basket and airy faux branches gives a welcoming, polished look that reads well from the street.

The scale of this arrangement is what makes it work. The large basket anchors the entry and provides the right balance for our porch. It looks intentional and eye-catching from a distance.
Someday when I finish planting the pots and tweak the rest of the porch, I’ll share a wider photo to show the full effect.

This scalloped basket filled with seasonal stems would also work beautifully as a wall display if you have space for a statement piece. I’m excited to use it in different seasons and on other walls, but for now it’s perfect on the front door—making the entry feel welcoming and giving me that satisfied, ready-for-spring feeling. It’s good to be home.
