Hey friends! This week I’m carving out time for something I always enjoy — what I call puttering. Maybe you have a different name for it, but it’s one of those simple, satisfying ways to spend an afternoon.
Puttering is to occupy yourself in an unhurried, pleasant manner on a number of small tasks, while not concentrating on anything particular.

Is puttering not the best fall nesting activity ever?
It’s relaxing, yet it still feels productive and rewarding.
When you slow down to tend to small things around the house, the result is a cozier, more comfortable home. Puttering can look like a bit of fall nesting, adding small touches to make a room feel warmer, light cleaning, a little tidying or organizing, or a combination of these. You might start in the kitchen and end up refreshing several rooms — or even finding a few items to add to your shopping list. The point is to follow what feels right and enjoy the process.

Often I make myself a hot drink, put on some music, and let my curiosity guide me. Small changes—a new towel, a mug moved to a different shelf, a little sweep of the floor—add up and make the home feel refreshed.
Want to join me in some fall puttering this week?
I’d love to hear what you’re up to and whether you’re enjoying a bit of puttering too. I’ll share what I discover as I move around the house.
