31-Day Transformation Challenge: Daily Steps to Lasting Change

I’m interrupting your summer to bring you this public service announcement:

I love Fall.

You probably already knew that if you’ve visited here before.

I enjoy every season, but Fall holds a special place in my heart.

For the past three years I’ve celebrated the season here in many ways. From my annual Fall Nesting Parties (we’ll pencil in our fourth for September 12th — I’m not rushing us this year) to themed series, neighborhood drive-bys, and seasonal posts, I can’t get enough of autumn.

Last October my friend Nester organized a group of us to take part in a collaborative series called 31 Days. The concept was simple: each of us would provide inspiration every day for a month, focused on a particular theme. Here were the topics contributors offered last year:

31 Days to a Less Messy Nest from Nester at Nesting Place
31 Days to Stress-Free Entertaining from Sandy at The Reluctant Entertainer
31 Days to a Better Photo from Darcy at Life With My 3 Boybarians
31 Days to More with Less from Jen at Balancing Beauty and Bedlam
31 Days of Autumn Bliss from Melissa at The Inspired Room
31 Days of Living Simply from Emily at Remodeling This Life
31 Days of Grace from Emily at Chatting at the Sky
31 Days to an Inspired Table from Kendra at My First Kitchen (with Jessica from The Mom Creative joining that topic)

Because the series ran in October — the heart of my favorite season — my contribution was called 31 Days of Autumn Bliss. My aim was to encourage a sense of contentment at home during the fall months.

During that series I covered everything from preparing your fall entryway and organizing the kitchen to styling autumn rooms and sharing a few drive-bys around Seattle. It was a month full of seasonal ideas and practical inspiration.

If you want to get a jump on fall, you can read my entire Autumn Bliss series in the archive of past posts.

This year we’re teaming up again for 31 Days of Change. I actually planned a bit this time — imagine that. I’ve mapped out the series title, weekly themes, and the topics I want to explore. Progress!

Four years of blogging and I’m finally planning ahead occasionally. Usually I’m a happy, chaotic blogger without a strict plan, and I’ve made peace with that. Still, it feels good to have a framework for this series.

31 Days: Inspired Holidays

This year I want to focus on embracing fall at home while gathering simple inspiration for the holiday season. I’m excited about this direction. In the busyness of life it’s easy to lose sight of the joy of the holidays, and I need small, manageable prompts to rekindle that affection. I write to inspire myself — and I’m glad you’re here to join me.

For 31 days I’ll share simple ideas, practical tips, and daily motivation to help us welcome the holiday season intentionally. We’ll cover more than wreaths and mantels, exploring a range of creative and thoughtful topics to help us prepare.

I know it’s hot for many of you now and the holidays seem far away, but I’ll be ready on October 1 to guide us into the season. I already have ideas brewing and look forward to a smooth transition into fall and the holidays.

In October I’ll be joined by other talented women, each sharing their own themed 31-day series.

New this year, we’ll host 31 Day series link-ups so you can start your own 31-day project if you wish — pick whatever topic inspires you.

Will you join us? And will Seattle finally enjoy a late summer in October while the rest of the country cools down? I sure hope so!

This will be fun — mark your calendars for October. See you then!
