Outdoor Rocking Chairs and Garden Mood Board — Amazon Finds

Chair and pillow sources

In my recent “garden dreaming” newsletter I mentioned we added two new outdoor rocking chairs to our kitchen deck. We just finished setting them up, and they look so inviting I wanted to share a few photos and thoughts.

This week’s mission was to finally clear out furniture and items we decided we no longer needed. We rented a truck and passed along some Adirondack chairs and our old bed to our daughter, Courtney. Small spaces take patience and trial and error, but tailoring what you keep makes the space work so much better.

Now my husband and I are looking forward to lazy summer evenings sitting in our rocking chairs on the backyard deck. It feels cozy and relaxed—maybe a little like something grandparents would enjoy, and I’m here for it.

The chairs come in several colors—black, white, gray, and a wood tone—plus a non-rocking version we already use by the fire pit. They’re solidly made and have a nice finish. We chose blue because it pops against our white deck railing and adds a cheerful contrast.

I also love the subtle wave detail across the top of the chair backs; it gives them a slightly coastal look. I’m leaning into that coastal grandmother vibe for our deck, with layered cushions and relaxed styling.

We paired the chairs with outdoor-striped pillow covers and waterproof pillow inserts to keep things comfortable and weatherproof. The striped pattern ties in nicely with the coastal feel and adds a fresh, summery touch.

Below I’ve included a new mood board featuring the regular version of these chairs and other garden-friendly pieces. I’m also using a fringe umbrella that adds a playful, vintage touch to the seating area.

PS — in our HomeBody Gathering Place we recently shared a lesson that walks through how we create mood boards like the one below. If you’re curious about the process, check the lesson in the community.
