Today I’m thrilled to reveal the cover of my new book, The Inspired Room.
After months of work behind the scenes, my second book, The Inspired Room, is finished and scheduled for release on November 1. My first book, Love The Home You Have, became a New York Times bestseller and introduced the ideas and encouragement I love to share about loving and caring for the home you already have. This new book builds on that same philosophy, with fresh inspiration and practical ideas for creating a home that feels personal and welcoming.

The Inspired Room focuses on decorating in an attainable way, offering affordable tips and approachable ideas to help you design a home you’ll love. The book features full-color photographs of my own home, shot by my daughter Courtney and me. Including our photos felt a little vulnerable and very exciting — it was a big task to capture our everyday life on camera, but I’m delighted with how the images turned out. The book also includes charming hand-drawn artwork by Nicole Johnson, whose illustrations appeared in Love The Home You Have. The overall design feels warm, playful, and personal, and I can’t wait to share the finished pages with you.

Having the book complete and off to the printer is a tremendous relief and a joyful milestone. My daughters were part of this adventure, and working with a talented team at Harvest House and Faceout Studio turned my words and photos into a cohesive, unique book. Producing a book is a true collaborative effort, from the text and photography to layout and cover design.
I knew from the start that I wanted the cover to feel special and soulful, not like the typical photo-covered design-book or coffee-table book. I wanted it to be something you’d reach for, hug, and display — a book that invites you in. The cover needed personality: texture, lively colors, and an engaging pattern that reflects what home really is — a place for living, creating memories, and expressing love. Home isn’t a showplace; it’s a lived-in space, and I wanted the cover to reflect that warmth and authenticity.

When I saw the final cover design, I knew it was the one. A favorite detail is the coppery leaves on the cover, which will be rendered in copper leaf so they actually shimmer — a small, beautiful detail that brings the design to life.

Although the book features my home and my writing, it’s written for you. It’s not meant to impress with perfectly staged rooms, but to inspire and encourage you to create a home that suits your life. The pages are filled with realistic, achievable ideas that work with what you already own or can add over time. Whether your home feels complete or you’re just beginning to shape it, this book is about making a meaningful, personal space one step at a time.

The Inspired Room is a high-quality, large-format, 208-page full-color book designed to be both beautiful and practical. Despite its production value, it’s priced affordably so it’s accessible to many readers. It makes a thoughtful gift for housewarmings, weddings, birthdays, or the holidays, and pre-order options are available through major retailers.

I look forward to sharing more about the book’s creation, from writing to photography. My daughters and I enjoyed every part of this journey — from brainstorming and photo shoots to visiting Harvest House to collaborate on the design — and celebrating the finished book together has been especially meaningful.

This book was created with love, laughter, late nights, and plenty of coffee. I’m grateful for the support and encouragement from readers and friends throughout this process. It’s been humbling and joyful to bring this project to life.
