II’ve always been drawn to gardens, especially charming entrances. An arbor or gate can transform a yard, creating an inviting threshold that hints at what lies beyond. I love that moment of curiosity when an entryway quietly asks you to step through — even when it’s someone else’s garden (yes, I’m guilty of peeking!).
Recently I moved a metal arbor to sit above an arched garden gate in my side patio. The change added texture and architectural interest, and it immediately felt right. I imagined my white climbing roses would eventually cover it, but to my delight, jasmine wasted no time and began to climb right away.
Gates, arbors, and fences have been on my mind lately. I’m thinking about adding a new gate and fence to my front yard, and my daughter Kylee is hunting for gate ideas for her new home. I gathered a collection of inspiring images and examples that I thought you might enjoy for your own outdoor projects.
PS. If you enjoy garden books, a few favorites I often turn to are Garden Inspirations by Charlotte Moss, The Gardens of Bunny Mellon, and Out East: Houses and Gardens of the Hamptons.

I love how this home decorated their front arbor for fall; it feels warm and welcoming.

A row of arches creates a tunnel-like walkway that feels especially magical at night when lit with path lights.

Someday I might add an arbor above the gate in my side yard — I’m feeling inspired by all these possibilities.
Wishing you a lovely weekend, friends.
