Winter is the perfect season to pamper yourself. I love sinking into a tub full of hot water and bubbles or spending an evening wrapped in a cozy blanket by the fire. Sipping tea or hot chocolate, watching movies, reading a mystery novel curled up in bed, or snuggling with my husband at the end of the day — those are my ideas of winter bliss.

Next week I’ll experience a different kind of bliss: I’m heading to Blissdom in Nashville. I’m making the trek across the country to see blogging friends and meet new people. Getting away from home for a few days feels like a rare treat.
It’s not often I leave home by myself and get on an airplane for a little me time. Once I arrive I won’t be alone, of course, but that plane ride gives me a chance to breathe, think my own thoughts, and reconnect with myself. That in itself is blissful.
Last year I was convinced I had a mild case of ADD — until I boarded a plane. After a few minutes of restless energy, I calmed down and realized I simply never spend enough uninterrupted time alone to think. No wonder I felt scattered. I often spend more time thinking for and about other people than for myself.
What Not to Wear at Blissdom
Now for the question everyone wants answered: what am I wearing to Blissdom? Considering the panel I’ll be on, “Blogging with the Stars,” I joked about a plaid mini-skirt — a nod to the Mary Catherine Gallagher character from Saturday Night Live. I’m only half serious.

Whatever.
Honestly, I’m still deciding on my outfit. I do know what I won’t do: no manicure, no highlights, and I won’t have fancy new business cards. But I will pack high heels and fuzzy slippers. Heels because I’m short — and also because Harry Connick Jr. will be there, which is an exciting bonus. I love my job.

Please don’t be mad if you aren’t attending Blissdom, but if you are, I hope you’ll introduce yourself so we can meet in person. I’m excited that more bloggers are coming this year. If you can’t make it, consider coming next year.
PS. After last year’s Blissdom I wrote my top ten blogging tips, and I’m pretty sure they still apply this year.
So if my winter bliss is soaking in a hot tub or flying off to meet friends (and maybe Harry), what is your winter bliss? Today is our Winter Home Linky, so feel free to link up your posts and share your ideas for seasonal comfort and warmth.
