Now is the perfect time to think about fall nesting and decorating. I was inspired recently when I rediscovered one of my glass hurricane vases and decided to create a simple, fall-inspired arrangement.

Glass hurricane vases come in many sizes, shapes and finishes. I’ve owned this one for years, and now that our renovation is complete I’m excited to start decorating for autumn again.

This arrangement was easy to assemble and immediately brought a cozy, autumnal feel to the room.

How to make a fall-inspired hurricane vase

Materials:

  • Glass hurricane vase — choose a clear or seeded glass shape you like.
  • Dried orange slices — you can buy them ready-made or dry your own at home.
  • Pinecones — gather from outside or use store-bought versions.
  • Pillar candle — a battery-operated pillar is a safe, long-lasting option.
  • Cinnamon sticks — add scent and texture.

Assemble by layering the dried orange slices and pinecones around the base of the hurricane. Tuck a few cinnamon sticks in for texture and fragrance. Center the pillar candle and adjust the filler until the arrangement feels balanced. You can vary the look by using colored candles, adding fall foliage, wheat stalks, small pumpkins, or natural stones.

This is a flexible concept that adapts well to your personal style. Try a different candle color for a pop of contrast, or swap in shells and sand for a summertime twist. The key is simple, natural elements arranged with care.
