Board and Batten Entryway with Hooks: Stylish Mudroom Wall Ideas

We never tire of a clever transformation like the one Sada and her husband Reagan shared. They turned an otherwise unused wall in their entryway into a practical coat-and-accessory station while creating a pleasing display for art and personal mementos. Their choices feel meaningful and joyful, and the arrangement is charmingly balanced. Here’s what they told us:

My husband and I recently redid our entryway. Given our home’s layout, a full mudroom wasn’t possible, but we did have a large blank wall right next to the front door.

We decided to make the most of it with board and batten. Here’s our before-and-after—our own version of a mudroom. 🙂

It’s practical and adds a much-needed pop of color.

We’re still working on the lighting—the fixture and the limited natural light are challenges, as you can see in the photos. We’re addressing both, but already the entry feels brighter and more cheerful. I catch myself just staring at it!

I love your blog. If this gets featured I might pee my pants—too much? Have a great night! – Sada

Beyond the board-and-batten, the art arrangement is what really stands out. They mixed engagement photos with small, authentic props from their photo shoot—an unexpected and delightful touch. The overall display is playful and personal: sweet typographic prints, bold hardware, and even vintage-style soda bottles give the space personality without overwhelming it.

What’s your favorite element? Favorites here include the “Love” and “Always Radiate Sunshine” prints and the dark metal hooks and knobs that provide contrast and function. The small accessories and curated art make the wall feel cohesive and intentional.

P.S. They also shared inspiration and sourcing details on Sada’s blog for anyone interested in reproducing elements of this look.
