Ch-ch-ch-changes: How to Navigate Life’s Big Transitions

gallery wall set up

My daughters and I are starting a new gallery wall in the family room, and I’m thrilled with how it’s coming together. This wall will showcase artwork we collected on a recent trip to Europe, so it will bring both color and memories into the space.

We began by arranging all the frames on the floor to experiment with layouts before committing to the wall. Seeing everything together helped us decide on spacing and balance, and next we’ll begin hanging the pieces. I expect this gallery to make a strong visual statement and be a great conversation starter. It’s exciting to finally put these pieces on display after they’ve been tucked away in a dresser for years.

If you remember my stairway gallery wall, I still love that installation every day when I walk up and down the stairs. It remains one of my favorite projects because it adds personality and warmth to a frequently used area of the home.

One of the parts of decorating I enjoy most is taking care of the smaller details that help a room feel finished. After a year of larger updates around the house, I’m finally focusing on the fun finishing touches. Those small changes—swapping frames, rearranging art, updating textiles—make the home feel more cohesive and less overwhelming.

As a small update, you may notice new slipcovers on our Pottery Barn sofa. Simple changes like a fresh slipcover can give a room a different feel and offer an unexpected twist in the overall design.

summer tour of homes bloggers

Later this season I’ll be sharing more photos of recent updates as part of the Summer Tour of Homes. Many bloggers are participating, so it will be a fun opportunity to see a variety of styles and ideas. If you enjoy home tours, it’s worth checking out the event for fresh inspiration and practical tips.

In the meantime, you can explore my current house tour gallery for more room-by-room photos and ideas. I also have a “How to Decorate” series with guidance for those looking to refresh their own spaces—projects that focus on combining function with personal style.

I’ll post an update on the entry makeover tomorrow, so stop by again for photos and a progress report.

Small changes are happening little by little around here, and it’s been a joyful process.

What are you planning for the long holiday weekend? Any home projects or creative plans?
