Seasonal Holiday Ideas
HKeeping a blog is a lot like caring for a home — it requires regular upkeep, organization and occasional decluttering. After more than five years of posting several times a week, there’s a lot of content on this site that can be hard to find, even for me. To make things easier for readers and for the team, my daughter and assistant Kylee has been working on a helpful new feature: project galleries that organize posts and ideas in a visual, easy-to-browse format.
We’re excited about the results — the galleries are clean, attractive and make discovering related posts much simpler.
A project gallery is essentially a page of grouped thumbnails that represent related content. Each thumbnail links to a post and, on the live gallery, hovering reveals a brief description of the linked content. This visual approach lets you scan many topics quickly and click through only to the posts that interest you. The screenshot above shows how the gallery looks; visit the live gallery to see the interactive version and try the hover previews yourself.
To get started we created a dedicated Seasonal & Holiday Gallery page that features multiple collections on a single page. At launch it includes galleries for Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Winter content. Each gallery groups posts, projects and decorating ideas so you can quickly find inspiration for a particular season or holiday. We’ll continue adding both posts and new galleries over time, expanding the selection and refining navigation.
Right now you can view the first Seasonal & Holiday Gallery by following the link in the sidebar or by visiting the gallery page directly. As the gallery area grows, I’ll share additional tips for locating content and using the new layout. The goal is to make it effortless to find seasonal ideas, projects and decorating inspiration without digging through older posts.
For those on the East Coast, you’re in my thoughts. I’m sending prayers and warm wishes to everyone affected by recent storms — please stay safe and cozy.
Also, don’t forget that in just a couple of hours we’ll be hosting our Best of Fall Projects Linky where bloggers from our community share their favorite fall projects. It’s a great place to discover creative ideas and see what fellow bloggers have been making this season. I hope you’ll stop by the linky to browse and to join the conversation if you have a project to share.
We’re thrilled to offer an easier way to explore seasonal decorating ideas, and we hope the new galleries help you find the inspiration you’re looking for. Keep an eye out for more gallery categories and fresh content in the coming weeks — we’re just getting started and there’s plenty more to come.
