Kylee here with an update on our primary bedroom/attic suite. If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you know this room has been a work in progress since we moved in last summer. It’s been evolving little by little, and today I’m excited to share a progress update with new flooring and bedding.
We finally installed beautiful hardwood floors and settled on the coziest bedding, so I wanted to give you a peek at how the space is coming together.
Here was the room when we first moved in:

When we moved in it felt like a blank slate: white walls and old gray carpet. We wanted to make the room feel warmer and more inviting with a fresh paint color, and we decided to replace the wall-to-wall carpet with solid wood flooring. I’m not a fan of carpet in bedrooms—my allergies prefer hard floors—and we wanted the new floor to coordinate with the existing hardwood throughout the house.

We started painting right away but experienced delays with the flooring. A few weeks ago the hardwood finally arrived and it completely transformed the room—the difference is night and day.

There are still a few finishing touches I want to add—a rug, art, and bedside reading sconces are on my list—but it’s already feeling much cozier. I suspect this room will continue to evolve, but after months of feeling like we were just “squatting” until the floors were installed, it’s wonderful to have a comfortable space of our own.
Over the next few weeks I’ll share more before-and-after photos and details, but today’s update focuses on the new flooring and bedding. If you enjoy progress posts, I hope you like this peek!

We debated bedding options for months—trying and returning several sets—before landing on white. We usually favor patterned, colorful sheets, but nothing we tried felt quite right. Choosing all-white bedding felt classic and calming, creating a crisp, hotel-like atmosphere that makes the bed feel fresh and relaxing.
Good bedding matters: you spend roughly a third of your life in sheets, so comfort and quality are important. We’d heard great things about Brooklinen and decided to try their bedding during a sale. We chose the Luxe Hardcore Bundle, which includes a flat sheet, fitted sheet, two sets of pillowcases, and a duvet cover. The bundle is a great value and lets you mix and match styles.
While we were tempted by patterns like Oxford Stripe, the white set felt right for this space. These are the softest, most buttery sheets we’ve owned—my husband describes them as “sleeping in the clouds,” and I couldn’t agree more.
Beyond the fabric, thoughtful details make a real difference. The sheets include side labels to help orient short and long sides—handy for a king bed. The duvet cover has corner ties to keep the insert in place, and pillowcases feature envelope closures for a clean, finished look.

Leo approves too, which matters since we bought a king bed after he joined our family so there would be plenty of room for everyone.
If you’re shopping for new bedding, I can recommend Brooklinen based on our experience. We’re enjoying the comfort and the clean aesthetic, and I’ll be back soon with more photos and updates from the room. Follow along on Instagram for more house progress and behind-the-scenes glimpses.
