Build a Reclaimed Wood Lamp: Home Depot DIY Workshop Guide

Reclaimed Wood Lamp with Himmeli Shade DIY

Natalie from Doodlecraft created the winning reclaimed wood lamp

Hello! Do you see that fun lamp in the photo above?

I’m excited to share that I will be co-hosting a Lamps & Lighting DIY Workshop on July 12 from 10:00–11:30 AM at The Home Depot store in Bellevue, WA.

Can you guess what I’m bringing to the workshop? I’m planning to create my own version of the lamp shown above.

Recently The Home Depot partnered with Instructables for a Lamps & Lighting contest. The lamp pictured here was the contest winner, chosen for clarity, ingenuity, creativity, and quality of presentation and execution. Natalie from Doodlecraft crafted the Himmeli shade using coffee stir sticks—a wonderfully creative idea. Full DIY instructions for the reclaimed wood lamp and Himmeli shade are available from the contest project.

I’ll be attempting a version of that winning design at the workshop. I’m a little nervous, but eager to try it and share the results here for anyone who wants to follow along.

The Home Depot offers free DIY workshops for people of all ages and experience levels who want to learn new home skills.
