Have you ever had a dream house that you just couldn’t stop thinking about? This shingled coastal home in Seabrook on the Washington coast is mine — at least in my imagination. It was for sale at one point, so for a moment I entertained the idea that it could really be mine. Whether owned or not, it remains my dream home.
I’m excited to share a photo tour of this coastal beauty, which belongs to my friend Susan. She and her husband had the home custom built and kindly invited my family to stay for a few days. It’s both beautiful and inspiring — a place that feels purposeful and welcoming, and full of details you can borrow for your own home.
You may recall a previous post about this house from when it was empty; Susan had shared photos then. Now that I’ve actually stayed here I can say it exceeded my expectations. It truly felt like home.

I took a lot of photos — there are so many beautiful angles and details — but I’ll keep this post focused on highlights from the first floor so it’s easy to browse. At the end of the post you’ll find links to part two of the tour and resources I mention.

The exterior is striking: the main house with a guest house and garage to one side, ocean views to the other, and a lovely open park space across the way. The shingle siding and classic Cape Cod proportions give it timeless curb appeal.

To prove I was actually there (and to show the scale of the kitchen), here’s a snapshot of me in Susan’s kitchen — I felt right at home. Susan incorporated elements inspired by homes featured on my blog, which is part of why the space felt so comfortable to me.
If you’d like a video tour, there is one available that showcases the flow and feel of the home.

The moment you enter, the house feels cozy and inviting. Despite its size and the fact that it’s new, the space reads warm and livable — a balance of open plan and comfortable nooks.

I’ll follow up with posts that offer tips to recreate this look, ideas about layout for a custom build, and ways to add character during renovations. For now, enjoy the images and consider the design choices that caught my eye.
Below are curated photos of the main living areas, kitchen, mudroom, outdoor living, and guest spaces. I’ve limited commentary so you can simply take in the design details and imagine them in your own home.
