Hi friends! Kylee here (Melissa’s daughter) — I’m so excited to finally share my daughter Lila’s finished nursery with you.
I’ve had this on my to-do list for a while — Lila is almost one now! It’s been so rewarding to pull everything together, photograph the room, and show how it all came together.
If you’ve followed along, you might remember this room as my former home office and guest room. The function changed, but many of the original elements stayed — we kept the wall color and window treatments and leaned into a botanical, garden-inspired look with butterflies, birds, and floral details.
Most of what I used was secondhand or items I already had. Where possible, I’ve shared similar sources and included a roundup of the pieces I used. The result is a cozy, layered nursery that feels collected and soft.
The crib was one of the only major new purchases; it was a gift from my mom. I loved its vintage-meets-modern style and soft cream finish — it feels warm rather than stark white and fits the room’s gentle palette.
The wall color is Benjamin Moore Louisburg Green, a calming gray-green that creates a serene backdrop for the botanical accents.
The dresser is a family piece that has been passed down through generations. Years ago we recreated a light, whitewashed finish by watering down paint and wiping it back — a simple DIY that gave it a soft, worn look. It’s picked up a few scuffs over time, which I think adds character.
The artwork above the dresser comes from pages of an old calendar for a vintage, collected feel. Similar botanical prints can reproduce this look nicely.
Full disclosure: I tried to DIY a pleated lamp shade with hot glue and it did not go well. It was much harder than it looked in tutorials — a fun experiment, but not a success.
The linen curtains I used are no longer available, but there are very similar options that capture the same airy, natural look. The Roman shades are blackout-lined to keep naps and nights peaceful.
I like having a few hook rails on the walls for displaying outfits and keeping everyday items handy. The wall shelf gives a spot for seasonal decor that can be rotated — ours has a simple, classic feel that complements the rest of the room.
If you’re debating whether to invest in a quality glider, I’m here to say it’s worth it. It’s become essential for feedings, naps, story time, and bedtime routines. I still use it every day and it’s one of the most used pieces in the room.
