Winter is my favorite season for indulgence. I adore sinking into a hot, bubble-filled tub or curling up by the fire in a cozy blanket. Hot tea or cocoa, a good movie, a gripping mystery novel, or snuggling with my partner—these are my images of winter comfort and relaxation. There’s something about chilly evenings that makes simple comforts feel luxurious.

Next week I’ll be enjoying a different kind of treat: a trip away from home. I’m heading to a conference in Nashville called Blissdom to meet blogging friends, hear inspiring speakers, and soak up the creative energy. Traveling for work has its perks, and this getaway feels like a rare, welcome break from routine.
Leaving the house alone and getting on a plane gives me a small pocket of solitude I don’t often experience. Once I arrive in Nashville I’ll be surrounded by people, but that plane ride is mine—time to think, recharge, and let my thoughts form without interruption. That quiet mental space feels restorative.
Last year I wondered if constant distraction had become part of my life until I found myself alone on a flight. After a few restless minutes, I settled into uninterrupted thought and realized how rarely that happens in everyday life. Much of my mental energy goes toward others, so solo travel can be a useful reset.
WHAT NOT TO WEAR AT BLISSDOM
Now for the burning question: what will I wear to Blissdom? With the panel I’m speaking on—called “Blogging with the Stars”—I’ve joked about choosing something dramatic, maybe even a plaid mini-skirt for comic effect. Really, I’m still undecided. I won’t be getting a manicure or fresh highlights before the trip, and there won’t be fancy new business cards in my bag. But I will pack both high heels and fuzzy slippers. Heels because I’m short (and because yes, certain guests are making the event extra exciting). Slippers because comfort matters when the day winds down.

Whatever.
I’m genuinely excited to meet fellow bloggers and readers in person. If you’re attending Blissdom, please introduce yourself—I’d love to say hello and connect face-to-face. It’s always special when online friendships shift into real-life conversation. And if you can’t make it this year, consider joining next time; these events are a lovely way to recharge and find fresh inspiration.

If you’re curious about practical blogging advice, I wrote a post last year sharing my top ten tips after attending Blissdom. Many of those ideas still apply, and they’re helpful whether you’re a new blogger or have been at it for years. Learning from others and refining your approach is part of what makes conferences like this worthwhile.
What is your winter bliss? For me it’s either soaking in a warm tub or taking a short trip to meet people and enjoy new experiences. Today we’re hosting a Winter Home Linky so you can share your own ideas for winter comfort and inspiration. Link up your seasonal posts and show how you make your home cozy during the colder months.
Please link directly to your winter home post rather than to a homepage, and include a link back to this post so others can find the collection of ideas. I’m looking forward to seeing how you create warmth and joy in your space during winter.
