31 Days of Autumn Bliss — Day 8: Cozy Mom Caves Ideas

House Beautiful

When the air turns crisp and the skies grow a little blustery, I love nothing more than nesting indoors. Fall is my favorite season for curling up with a good book. A comfortable chair, an ottoman for my feet, and a lamp casting a warm glow over a small stack of books—this is pure comfort. Add a fireplace and I’d happily stay put for hours.

I already have a blogging corner beside the fireplace and a little green pull-down desk in the kitchen, but I often dream of having an entire room to call my own. A dedicated space where everything reflects my taste and helps me unwind—how wonderful would that be?

HomeGoods calls this kind of space a “Mom Cave,” and I love the idea. The photo with red-and-white striped curtains really speaks to me—it’s cozy and cheerful at the same time. Whether it’s a small corner or a full room, what matters is having a place that feels like a personal retreat.

Everyone needs a nook where they can breathe and recharge. Moms and women in general spend so much time tending to others that a quiet, nurturing spot is essential. It doesn’t have to be a full room; even a dedicated chair, a small desk, or an inspiration board can lift your spirits every time you see it. That little refuge helps you refill your energy so you can give more of yourself to others.

Do you have a special place in your home that is completely your own?

I’m planning a trip to Portland to visit HomeGoods as soon as I can. The nearest store is three hours away, but I’m excited to hunt for new lamps and accessories for my dream Mom Cave. Small touches—a lamp with the right glow, a textured throw, a framed favorite photo—can transform a corner into a sanctuary.

Imagine your perfect Mom Cave: a warm armchair by the window, soft lighting, shelves of beloved books, a small table for tea, and calming colors that make it easy to unwind. Maybe it’s a creative space with an inspiration board, art supplies, or a compact desk for journaling. Or perhaps you prefer a minimalist retreat with clean lines, a plush rug, and just one or two meaningful objects. Whatever your style, the goal is the same: a place that restores you.

This weekend I’m giving away FOUR $50 HomeGoods cards, one card to each random winner. To enter, comment on the original post describing your dream Mom Cave. Giveaway ends on Tuesday, October 12 at 10 AM PST.

HomeGoods is also running a larger giveaway for a $5,000 gift card and a personal design consultation by designer Elaine Griffin for a complete Mom Cave makeover—what an amazing prize to win if you enter.
